In 2019, a friend running marketing at Two Roads Brewing reached out to ask whether I'd shoot product photography for Two Roads and Area Two, the brewery's program for wild and barrel-aged beer. The work ran through 2020 and covered releases from both sides of the operation. One of those images, a shot of Brett Noir, was featured in Wine Enthusiast's Top 25 Beers of 2019.
Every shoot happened at home, in whatever temporary studio the product called for. Some setups moved outdoors to work with natural light, while others stayed inside under strobes where I could control every highlight on the glass. The makeshift setups let me build each shot around the beer instead of around a fixed space.
