A Neighborhood Favorite, Rebuilt for the Phone in Your Hand

Didi's Downtown came to us with a website that was quickly thrown together to get them online. It was slow and hard to maintain, and it had been designed for desktop even though most visitors were browsing from their phones. We rebuilt it from the ground up in WordPress, prioritizing a fast, mobile-first experience for the on-the-go diner deciding where to eat. The cluttered menu became four clean, easy-to-update pages. Reservations now run through ToastTab and ordering through UberEats, both built directly into the site. Behind the scenes, a custom backend gives Didi's staff full control over their own menu updates, all set within a warm, inviting design true to the restaurant's brand.

New Wordpress-based Website
The Approach

Less Clutter. More Table.

01

Mobile First

We rebuilt the site mobile-first instead of retrofitting a desktop layout, restructuring navigation and page speed around how guests actually browse: on their phones, standing outside deciding where to eat.
02

Simplified Menus

We consolidated a cluttered menu into four clean, dedicated pages and built them on ACF repeaters, so Didi's staff can update dishes and pricing themselves without touching code.
03

Seamless Service

We integrated ToastTab for reservations and UberEats for ordering directly into the site, so guests can go from browsing the menu to booking a table or placing an order in a couple of taps.

What We Built

Pages:

  • Home
  • Our Menus (with four dedicated menu pages: Main, Weekend Brunch, Drink, and Lunch Specials)
  • About Us
  • Events

Backend & functionality:

  • Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) repeaters power all four menus, giving Didi's staff an easy, structured way to update dishes, descriptions, and pricing without touching code
  • The Events Calendar plugin handles all event listings and scheduling
  • ToastTab integration for reservations, booked directly from the site
  • UberEats integration for online ordering
  • Constant Contact email signup for direct marketing to guests

The Result

The new site matches how customers actually use it. Menus load fast, and reservations or ordering are a tap away. The ACF-driven backend also solved the client's original pain point. Menu updates that used to require a developer can now be handled in-house.

Didi's remains a retainer client. Cork & Crown Digital continues to handle ongoing maintenance, updates, and security for the site.
